I'm onna roll. . .

Did I share with you the post about the frame for all year round?  It was painted black with the glass taken out and the cardboard covered in burlap?  If you need a refresher check this out:  http://todaysfabulousfinds.blogspot.com/2011/01/frame-for-every-season.html
Have I also mentioned that the 5th grade class is doing a Live History Museum (or named something similar). Anyway, each student has to choose a figure who was significant in our country's history and they have to write a 2 minute speech, do a report, and dress like them to deliver their speech.  Well, today's search started and ended for the outfit that Taite will need for his project.  He showed me a picture of who he'd selected and, lucky me, there was only the same picture shown of the guy wearing . . . a 3 piece suit.  NO PROBLEM!  Finding a men's (because I'm sure someone would know if it was a women's and the teasing would commence) 3 piece suit for a 5'2" person  ~ without spending a bunch of money ~ would be a piece of cake!  HA!  So, as to not panic, I began searching at the closest Goodwill today.  I found that most of the suits were in the XXL size on the rack. . . I did however find these:
What the hey, you ask?  Well, for $1 I found my frame (take out the pastel pink and blue hearts) and my burlap (re-purposing a used burlap sack ~ I know! ~ what are the chances??) and a roll of striped wallpaper.  The first two are obvious as to why I picked them up, but the last?  Well, here is my intention for that.  Each fall when school starts, Taite has a book or two or so that he needs to have a cover for and those cloth/stretchy ones you can get in the store don't cut it.  The best thing I know?  Wallpaper!  Chris rolled his eyes this last fall when I dug it out, but I tell you what, that book will look as good as it did to start the year!!  AND to find a tan/white stripe is like finding GOLD!

Okay, today I came across a blog (I know, I'm addicted to blog-stalking) for Valentine's and I LOVE it!  Check them out here:  http://www.bluecricketdesign.net/2010/01/were-crazy-for-you-valentines.html  It's actually an old post, but that's the great thing about blogs and the Internet ~ it's new to me and we can use it for this year's Valentines! (not that I send one out every year, but when I find something too good to pass up, well, can you blame me??)  This is not the picture we used for our Valentine, but it gives you a little sneak peek at what they will turn out like (I had the camera turned the wrong way to use this one ~ funny note: notice Brayton's fingers are UP his nose ~ LOL)
Here are Taite's new glasses!  Doesn't he look great??
Okay, so I still didn't share with you how I'm done searching for a 3 piece suit when I didn't find one at Goodwill.  Well, a few years ago when my grandpa died, my grandma gave Chris one of his suits.  It's probably the only 3 piece suit that Chris will ever own and he still had it!  The vest fits okay, the sleeves on the coat will need to be "shortened" and the pants will too, but I definitely will not "fix" them permanently AND I didn't have to spend any money for this project!!  Yeah for hanging onto some things!!

This news, however, doesn't mean that my night has been completely perfect because, although, I was able to get the picture ready to print for the Valentines (SO exciting :D) my cheap can of spray paint from Walmart has ruined my day again.  Apparently, when you only spend $1 on a can of spray paint, you can't expect much from it!  I tried to paint my frame, but I'll have to wipe that off and get a better kind of paint to further my year round frame.  Don't worry!  I'm not giving up, just post-poned a little, tiny bit!

Shoot, forgot one thing, but it's a good one!!!

I came across many Valentine things, but nothing made me laugh like this post (Oh, I gushed over the heart shaped cookies at the top, too, but scroll down!!!)

I have GOT to make some of these :D

Snow Day! (that makes two that we have to add to the end of the school year, if you're counting)

HELLO!!!
Am I on a roll or what?!  Two posts, two days in a row!  I am on fire this week. . . LOL
SNOW DAY
I get emails from the How Does She blog and today I was looking for inspiration.  Since the windchill outside was like 40 below, I was all ready to decorate inside for Valentine's Day (and maybe make a wreath or something festive for our front door, outside, because right now it's still just an empty book).  I found some really cute ideas and came across a site that showed using Valentine towels (they happened to get them last year for $.25 after Valentine's Day) for pillows that sat on their children's beds for notes to be put inside as to "Why I Love You. . ." ~ I would totally insert the blog posting here, if I could find it again (just pretend you've seen it and were oooh-ing and aahhhh-ing over it like I was).  I went out into our garage to find my Valentine's stuff.  On the right side of the shelf (Easter/Spring):
On the left side of the shelf (Halloween):
The gap in the middle where the Valentine's tote should be, except this is when I remember I never really did have many decorations for Valentines and now I really don't have any.
I even checked here to see if there was a tote mixed in with the Christmas stuff, but there wasn't.
At last, I remembered that I might have V towels in my towel drawer in the kitchen!  I went searching and sure enough, in the very bottom with the Halloween towels were two Valentine towels.  But. . . I didn't really want to cut those up because they were all I had, so I was back to finding a project to do with the things that I had.
I made muffins!  Haha ~ bet you didn't see that coming :D  I bought the ingredients for these Lemon Poppy seed Muffins last week and I finally baked them.  I hate them, but everyone else seems to like them, so I guess that is good.  Did I mention that I even grated the lemon peel for these?  Still ~ yuck.
A week ago last Friday I felt like cleaning.  My boss was generous enough to let me stay home and clean as long as I kept checking my emails.  On thing I came across while cleaning was this picture leaning up against Chris' stool on his side of the bed, on the floor.  It's a poem that Chris' mom's cousin wrote in her memory after she passed away.  This has moved with Chris in college, from our trailer house to our new house in Byron and now to our new house here.  It wasn't fair to have it propped up on the floor when an idea struck me!  This rocking chair sits in our bedroom and no one sits on it.  A lot of blogs use ribbon to hang things ~ pictures, a hand made wreath, just about anything.  As I was getting the picture situated on the chair so it looks just right, I remembered the blanket Chris' mom made for him when she was sick.  The blues matched perfectly and it finishes up the whole look of the tribute to Chris' mom, Denise.  He was very pleased to see this when he came home.
I was not destined to make anything Valentine-y, so I moved onto other projects.  This particular one has been waiting for years and even given up on a time or two!  I have 2 pairs of Cuddle Dud pants that have a waist so high, it would double as a chest protector.  So, I used my good fitting pair of pants to measure where the waist should be ~ yep, it's WAYYYY too high!
I even took one of my headbands that I wore, but wasn't really happy about (the headband was way too wide and the elastic in the back/bottom was too wide as well) so today I split them into two!  Now they are perfect-o!
Today I changed some settings on my camera and I swore I had fixed it so my pictures would turn out better ~ that didn't happen!  Here are a couple shots from Taite's game tonight.
This is Taite's friend, Tayler (the clear person in the picture) and the only reason I know who it is is because he wears the black shoes and his brother wears white ~ thank goodness for that! :~)
